Community involvement

Our school values strong partnerships with our families and community. Parents and carers can get involved through our Parents and Citizens Association (P&C) or by volunteering at our school. Your time and support helps make our school a better place for everyone.

Volunteer at our school

Helping out at school is a great way to get involved in your school community.

Volunteer opportunities include:

Parents or close relatives of enroled students are generally not required to have a Working with Children Check (WWCC) clearance when volunteering at their child's school. However, they must complete a Declaration for Child-Related Workers before attending or volunteering, includes any P&C organised events, on school grounds.

The WWCC is a separate background screening process conducted by the NSW Office of the Children’s Guardian, while the Department’s declaration is an internal process confirming compliance with child safety policies and legal obligations. The declaration form must be completed by those exempt from the WWCC, such as parents or close relatives, as well as by other volunteers, contractors, and employees engaged in child-related work.

Declaration for child-related workers

As part of department's child safety policies and legal obligations, volunteers are also required to check in at the school office upon arrival.

Parents and Citizens Association (P&C)

Our P&C is a group of parents, carers and school community members. They assist with fundraising, events and volunteering. Our P&C works in partnership with our school to promote the interests of our school community.

Joining the P&C is a great way to meet other families, get involved and contribute to our school's future.

Join our P&C

The Canterbury South Public School P&C benefits greatly from the engagement of an active parent community, and we warmly encourage you to contribute in any capacity you are able. A range of volunteer opportunities are available, and if you are interested in becoming involved, please contact the P&C via email at csps.email.pandc@gmail.com.
