Wellbeing
At our school, student wellbeing and learning go hand in hand. We want every student to feel safe, included and ready to learn. Whether your child needs help with their mental, emotional, social or physical wellbeing, we are here to help them thrive at school and in daily life.
How we support student wellbeing
At Canterbury South Public School, student wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do. We know that happy, resilient learners thrive both in and out of the classroom. Our wellbeing programs are designed to build strong connections, celebrate identity and support every child to reach their potential.
Together, these initiatives create a culture of care, connection and respect, ensuring every student feels supported and valued.
The Resilience Project
Students engage in lessons and activities that focus on gratitude, empathy and mindfulness, giving them practical strategies to manage challenges and build positive mental health.
Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL)
Our whole-school approach to behaviour and wellbeing promotes clear expectations, consistency and recognition. Students learn to be safe, respectful learners in a supportive environment that celebrates positive choices. Alongside this, we actively foster an inclusive culture by standing against bullying and racism, ensuring every child feels safe, respected and valued.
Peer Support and R U OK? Day
Our older students take on leadership roles, guiding younger peers through structured activities that promote friendships, teamwork and confidence.
Our SRC organises a great R U OK? Day for students and staff in Term 3.
Koori Club
We proudly celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture through our Koori Club, where students strengthen their sense of belonging, identity and pride while learning from each other’s stories and traditions.
